Hello! Thank you for taking the time to stop by. This is me attempting to summarise who I am in a couple of sentences. Like every other human on the planet, I'm much more complex in reality, but hopefully this will give you an idea...
I recently completed my Bsc in Philosophy, Logic & Scientific Method, and am in the second year of my part-time MSc in Media & Communications Governance at the London School of Economics.
I have always been fascinated by media, and from a young age made it my goal to work in or study this industry. I have noticed that there are a lot of presuppositions embedded in the production of different media products that are often taken for granted. This intrigues me, especially at a time of such rapid technological change which is providing us with all kinds of new challenges.
I currently work freelance in the news industry, making me a producer, researcher, and consumer of news all at once. In other words, I am a true news nerd. I still find it all a bit mind blowing whenever I walk into a newsroom of how it all comes together.
While I love news, I am a philosopher at heart, and aim to weave philosophical thoughts and theories to everything I do, whether its work or study. My ultimate aim is to work towards building a 'philosophy of the news', but my research interests are broad, ranging from ethical algorithm design, to internet policy, to politics in a digital world - plus everything else in between. I am currently working on a project called JournalismAI which, as the name hints, is exploring the intersection of Journalism and Artificial Intelligence.
Despite usually being completely absorbed in news in some form, I luckily have a bit of a life too. I love meeting friends, old and new, and am really lucky to be surrounded by kind, creative, and intelligent humans who inspire me and encourage me everyday. I love horse-riding, and have a horse called Maddie who looks like a cow, and likes to live up to this image too sometimes. I'm passionate about mental health and work with an organisation called Safely Held Spaces which aims to bring people together in a safe space where they can share their feelings, as well as change the media narrative on mental health. I recently started a project called Chaotic Clarity with one of my close friends which aims to explore growth and self-discovery through philosophy. Additionally, I am a huge fan of yoga, and am likely to be upside down while you read this. I also do pole fitness too because it's never a bad idea to have a Plan B. I also love to read and paint, and also really enjoy building flat pack furniture - that's Plan C.
(Here comes the grand finale) All in all, I’m an extremely forward-thinking person and work with a positive, ‘no problem is too large’ attitude, however, I am able to balance this optimism with logic and resourcefulness. This makes me a very level-headed individual who can be relied on to stay composed, especially in high pressure situations. I'm very easy to work with and am a quick learner - I am always open to new projects and challenges so please do get in touch if you have anything you think I could help you with!
